Frequently Asked Questions
Inspired by the Zen concept of 'Kensho,' meaning a moment of self-discovery, Kensho jewellery embodies a journey of transformation. Each handcrafted piece seamlessly blends ancient techniques with contemporary design, creating timeless heirlooms that carry profound meaning. Designed in Vermeil— a thick layer of gold over 925 sterling silver—our pieces offer lasting quality and durability. Each design is rich in symbolism, reflecting themes of growth, strength, and resilience, and connecting you to a deeper sense of purpose.
At Kensho, we use Vermeil—a thick 2.5-micron layer of pure gold over 925 sterling silver. This gold layer is up to five times thicker than standard gold plating (typically around 0.5 microns), ensuring exceptional durability and lasting wear. Unlike many gold-plated pieces, we avoid chemicals for waterproofing; instead, our hypoallergenic metals naturally age and evolve over time, providing a safer experience for your skin. Sustainability is at our core, with recycled metals and handpicked natural gemstones in every piece. Solid gold options are available upon request. For inquiries, email us at info@kenshoheirlooms.com.
All our items are designed in London by our founder Mrigya Sharma. Our products are handcast by a small group of skilled artisans utilising a 5,500-year-old lost-wax technique. Each piece is crafted with intention and artistry to create an heirloom that serves as a companion on the path to inner discovery, echoing the unique experiences and insights of each wearer. Our dedication to craftsmanship ensures that each piece is a unique work of art, reflecting the expertise and passion of our artisans.

Unlike normal gold plating, our gold vermeil is plated in 2.5 microns of pure gold and is likely to last 5 times longer.
Gold Vermeil is the next best thing to solid gold, making it an excellent choice for jewellery. However, it’s important to note that it’s not waterproof. Unlike traditional gold-plated jewellery, we do not use any toxic chemicals to make our gold jewellery waterproof. Crafted with pure metals, our hypoallergenic pieces can tarnish with prolonged exposure to water or sweat. To maintain their beauty and prolong their lifespan, we recommend keeping your jewellery dry.
